Believing in ” evil eye” is greatly related to our family experiences. If we always heard that for every negative thing that happened the “evil eye” was to blame then we reproduced that belief. So it is difficult to eliminate such beliefs especially when our childish experiences are combined with the fact that such beliefs make us feel that we are emotionally attached to our roots.
What can this kind of belief reveal at the level of the psyche?
Believing in the “evil eye” is associated with low self-esteem and poor self-image. The people who believe this are afraid of not being able to cope with their responsibilities. In case of failure they disclaim their responsibilities and attribute it to the “evil eye”. When you believe that things are not caused by your own choices, but out of “third forces” then this means that you are not sure of yourself.
What does the belief in the “evil eye” reveals in regard to external appearance?
External appearance is related to the need for confirmation of a narcissistic or an insecure man. In both cases the family is responsible if one wasn’t “pampered” enough or wasn’t confirmed for his appearance as a child. The result is that one focuses on his appearance or shows the exact opposite behavior because of being rejected.
