Now its summertime where everyone looks for moments of relaxation and rest. These moments can be enjoyed either alone or with family. In this case we are interested in how anyone can spend holidays with their children. But how could this happen?
It is important that parents discuss with their children about the kind of vacation they want creatιng a plan of action (planning what to do on vacation such as sightseeing, sports activities, creative games in the sea etc. .) taking into account their children’s opinion. So the children realize that they participate in the decisions of the family. We also need to emphasize the importance of the daily program where kids will know how they are going to roll the day, which is tailored to the time of their sleep in order to avoid tensions. For this reason, parents are required to conclude an agreement with their children in order to respect the rules of the program and if they breach it to put consequences. This helps in smooth functioning of the family during the holidays.
Another important factor for parents is spending their holidays with couples that have children so that their children can have fun with them or encourage them to make new friends so that they can develope their socialization.
In what other ways can parents spend a pleasant vacation with their children? The answer is to let them play in a specific area, for example at the playground of the camp so that they can supervise them or let them take part in the creative activities that are organized by the hotels where they spend their holidays.
Of course, parents can spend time with their children by playing or swimming together, encouraging them to draw pictures reflecting the different moments that interested them. It is also a good time to discuss with their children about the cultural heritage, the natural beauty of the place they visit. If the children are older they can encourage them to participate in the organization of their trips. In that way they give them the opportunity to share information about the demographic, cultural, geographical features of the area. In the opposite case where children are younger the parents need to inform them using simple vocabulary, with many descriptions. Especially when visiting historical monuments they can discuss with their children by asking them questions to mobilize their imagination, for example about how people lived at that time or proposing them to revive those days by role playing.
Additionally parents can buy toys that develop children’s creativity for example clay or materials that they find in nature. If their children are older then they can buy them literary books so that they can accompany them in moments of relaxation. Another proposal is encouraging children to keep a daily diary writing about the new experiences that they gained. All these steps help parents and children spend their holidays in harmony.
That’s why parents should avoid pressuring children on guiding them what to do, but encourage them to discover what satisfies them. What is needed is good preparation where they will discuss and decide all the details of their holidays. Of course this does not mean that there may be some deviations from the program because on vacation there is always the inherent element of spontaneity and unpredictability.
In conclusion organize yourselves properly so that you have great holidays with your children that will be unforgettable and fill you with positive energy.
